Dear Year 4 Pupils,

Following parental feedback, we have adapted our lessons this week to include more narrated lessons which hopefully will support the children further in their understanding of the learning. MATHS

Lesson 1
LI: To sort shapes. 
What can we use to help us classify shapes into different categories? Work through the slides to see what different categories you can have in order to group set shapes. There is more to the eye than just how many sides the shape is made up of. Think about all the different things we have learnt throughout this topic. Once you have finished your worksheet, challenge and plenary, do not forget to mark your work.

Lesson 2
LI: Consolidation of Geometry topic.
We have now arrived at the end of our geometry topic. Can you remember everything you have learnt over the last 10 lessons? It is now time to put all that knowledge to the test to see what you have learnt/remember, but do not worry, you can always look back to jog your memory. Once you have finished the practice questions, worksheet and challenge, do not forget to mark your work.

Lesson 3
LI: To describe position
What is position and how would I use this? As you work through the slides, you will see that position is something everyone uses every-day. For your first lesson for the topic you will be looking at how instructions/directions are important for describing the position of something/someone. Once you have finished the practice questions, worksheet and challenge, do not forget to mark your work.

Lesson 4
LI: To be able to describe and plot points on a grid using positioning and coordinates
 
Read through the document to first see what you remember about the first lesson of our new topic. Once you have remembered how to describe the position of something, enjoy working through the 4 different activities and do not forget to mark your answers afterwards.

Read Chapter 10 of Percy Jackson ‘I ruin a perfectly good bus’.  Answer the comprehension questions in full sentences.  Try to use quotes from the story to support your answer.

LI: To create a secret identity which would keep you hidden if you were undertaking a quest.
 
Imagine you were going on your own quest.  Design a disguise that would keep you hidden and choose a mythological object which would aid you on your quest.

LI: To explore Asia.
Did you know that Asia is the largest continent in the world? In today’s lesson you will be researching about countries and their capitals, landscapes, famous people, animals, art and music within Asia. First of all, have a read through some of the information on the PPT about our previous continent of Africa to help you understand the type of research that would be suitable. This presentation on Africa will also help you understand how you may want to set out your work. Once you have finished the task, do not forget to mark your work using the answers provided.

Science
LI: consolidate learning in Science.

'Pupils will continue with their consolidation of learning for this week, investigating electrical conductors and insulators.  Task 2 looks at finding materials around the living space that may be a conductor or insulator, followed by planning an experiment in task 3.'

Music
Students will be exploring more fundamentals of music. This week's focus is on dynamics. In the final activity, students will answer some questions in their books about what they have learned, and then have the opportunity to try out the different dynamic levels they have learned on the found instruments they have created from the last two weeks.

RS
LI: To describe ways in which prayer can comfort and challenge believes.
What is prayer and is it useful? As we look through the slides we will be looking at the difference between praying to God and prayer to someone else. We will also be looking at what prayer means to you and others along with why someone might choose to pray. Throughout the slides I have given my own opinion to some of the questions, but remember, this is what I believe and everyone is entitled to their own opinions and their own beliefs. Once you have finished the task have a look at the ‘answers’ were I will share my opinions with you, but remember, there is no right or wrong opinion!
