ART at Home 1

Hello Parents and Carers and welcome to your ELPS at home art classes!

There will be daily art activities for children (and the entire family!) to do if they wish.

Each day has a video/website to visit to show you the final product or the process of creating the art piece.

The materials are recommended but you can be creative if you don’t have some of the required items.

No paint? Use colouring pencils! No paper plates? Use some paper!

The possibilities are endless. Have lots of fun, take pictures to show your teachers and happy creating!

Week 1 Theme: Using Our Body in Art

Day 1: Handprint art

Visit this website to see what we are making today: Click here

Required items:

  • Coloured paper/white paper to colour
  • Glue
  • Straw/twig/popsicle stick
  • Scissors
  • Pencil

What you’re doing:

Today, you will be tracing your hands, cutting them out, and sticking them together to make a bouquet of flowers. Attach them to a popsicle stick to create the stem and place the bouquet in a jar. A perfect late Mother’s Day surprise!

Alternative idea:

You could also do this with paint. Paint your hand and then stamp it onto paper. Afterwards, paint in the stems and flower pot to make a card.

Day 2: Footprint art

Visit this website to see what we are making today: Click here

Required items:

  • Paper
  • Paintbrush
  • Paints
  • Water pots
  • Paper towel
  • Felt tip markers

What you’re doing:

Today, you will be painting your foot and stamping it onto a piece of paper. If you’re ticklish, be careful! Once you’ve let your footprint dry, turn your footprint into a monster or animal. Give it eyes, some big teeth, horns, more colours – whatever you want! Cut it out and stick it on another piece of paper to create a home for your monster. You can do this with your hands as well!

Day 3: Fingerprint alphabet

Visit this website to see what we are making today: Click here

Required items:

  • Paper
  • Paintbrush
  • Paints
  • Paper towel
  • Felt tip markers

What you’re doing:

Today, you will be using your fingerprints to create the alphabet. Think about what animal, mini-beast or food starts with each letter of the alphabet. Paint a colour onto your finger and stamp it on the paper, then turn it into the animal, mini-beast or food. Above it, write “A is for apple” or whatever you’ve chosen.
