Start of Term Arrangements

East Lane Primary School will open as normal to all pupils on Monday 4th January.

The Government announced some very last minute changes to the arrangements for the start of Spring Term on Thursday 17 December 2020 for secondary schools. This has meant some changes to the start of term for Wembley High and North Brent School. Please visit their website for further information by clicking here.

Mass Lateral Flow Testing

The Government have also announced plans to introduce mass lateral flow testing for COVID-19 in January for secondary schools. There are no plans at this stage to introduce mass lateral flow tests in primary schools.

Tier 4 Restrictions

THE VIRUS HAS NOT GONE AWAY AND EVERYONE MUST PLAY THEIR PART IN CONTROLLING IT. PLEASE FOLLOW ALL THE RULES.

From Sunday 20th December, London has been placed into Tier 4 (Stay at Home). You can find full details here. There are some points worth emphasising.

  • Stay at home as much as possible.
  • No household mixing indoors or in private gardens.
  • You can only meet one person from another household in an outdoor public place.
  • Do not leave Tier 4 - you should not travel beyond your local area unless for a permitted reason such as for work if you cannot work from home, a medical need, or to care for someone vulnerable.

The arrangements for Christmas have also changed:

  • You can only spend Christmas with your household and support bubble if you have one - Christmas bubbles of up to three households are no longer allowed in London and other Tier 4 areas

What happens if there is a confirmed case of COVID-19 in school?

The school has robust steps in place to deal with a case of COVID-19. In conjunction with the DfE and Public Health England, a risk assessment will be carried out and we will take the necessary action to ensure pupils and staff remain as safe as possible. Whilst every case is different and the exact action will depend on the particular circumstances, below are some examples of the likely action the school will take:

  • Particular groups of pupils being sent home to isolate.
  • A whole class is sent home to isolate.
  • A whole year group is sent home to isolate.
