Science
This term Year 5 will be focusing on ‘Working Scientifically’, with practical experiments and writing each one up. Each week you will be directed to a particular experiment on the ‘Extra Science’ section on the ELPS website.

This week, try making and witnessing a chemical reaction in a Volcano! Click here for instructions on how to carry out the experiment.
After you have carried out the experiment, click here for the instructions for the main task.
You can choose to print the PDF template to write up your experiment or type it up in a word document. Alternatively, you can write up in your exercise books. An example of how we expect an experiment to be written up is also available here.
Pupils are encouraged to email their write up to the school (see instructions sheet) so we can see what amazing work they’re doing. Enjoy experimenting!

Music
Students will be exploring more fundamentals of music. This week's focus is on dynamics. In the final activity, students will answer some questions in their books about what they have learned, and then have the opportunity to try out the different dynamic levels they have learned on the found instruments they have created from the last two weeks.
