Lesson 1
LI: To recognise the place value of each digit. 
Welcome to your first consolidation lesson on 'Number and Place value'. In today’s lesson we will be looking at the value of each digit. When looking at place value, what resource must we always use? Work through the slides where there are some questions demonstrated along with questions for you to have a go at yourself for practice. Once you have completed the practice questions, work through the worksheet including the challenge and plenary. Remember to mark all of your work once everything is completed!

Science
This term Year 4 will be focusing on ‘Working Scientifically’, with practical experiments and writing each one up. Each week you will be directed to a particular experiment on the ‘Extra Science’ section on the ELPS website.

This week, try making and witnessing a chemical reaction in a Volcano! Click here for instructions on how to carry out the experiment.
After you have carried out the experiment, click here for the instructions for the main task.
You can choose to print the PDF template to write up your experiment or type it up in a word document. Alternatively, you can write up in your exercise books. An example of how we expect an experiment to be written up is also available here.
Pupils are encouraged to email their write up to the school (see instructions sheet) so we can see what amazing work they’re doing. Enjoy experimenting!

Music
This week students will be focusing on the music fundamental 'tempo' by exploring different tempi through classical music. Students will have the opportunity to watch different videos and listen to different audio files to help them.
